Mi Nuevo Becindario
Almost 2 months ago, finishing my first semester of junior year, I was in Chile, the country where I come from, saying goodbye to my friends and family, leaving alife for 6 month so I could grow, mature and learn how it’s outside of the bubble I’ve lived in for sixteen years. After eleven hours of flight, and too much excitement and curiosity about America, Iarrived to Illinois, Chicago. Like I couldn’t wait for it, I said hello to future special persons who will live with me, my new American family. As soon I get on the car, I couldn’t stop see throughthe window, seeing all these huge houses with a well maintained garden to appreciate, more cars than people outside in the wide streets. We still in the highway and I start to see lights in the sky,because of the famous skyscrapers from the city. There is no more big gardens like I saw before, there are smaller and I see more people running, but the same amount of cars that I saw before, treeseverywhere with places so children could play, shops that I didn’t knew, bicycles roads, Sturbucks like tomorrow there were no more coffee, and what I noticed was more public transportation... ‘We arehere, in your new home’… I’m on Lincoln Park.
Situated on the north side of Chicago, Lincoln Park, an old neighborhood home of Lincoln Park High School founded almost a century ago, is considered oneof the best public high schools according to tests conducted previously, measuring academic achievement. The vast majority of graduates are accepted at more than 150 universities around the world.Really close to this high school, in is there a favorite place for most of the people, especially for children, The Oz Park. Known for its outstanding sculptures of the characters in the movie 'The Wizardof Oz' situated in different part of the park, among them are Tin Man, Cowardly Lion, Scarecrow and Dorothy with her dog, Toto.
