How to Adapt to Leave in a New Country

I am 23 years old, I have lived in Cuba for my whole life but I desired to left it to go toUnited States. I left where everything was familiar to me, surrounded by many people who were my friends, with the same believe and interest. Now I leave in a new country where only know few peoplewith different culture, making hard my adapting process. Cultural differences usually include language, religion, political organization, customs and more. One of the difficulties that many people haveis dealing with the stereotypes of others. In general, changing country is a complicated and difficult task for most people. Most of everything that you know and have learned about people may not beuseful. Finally, I knew if I don’t do anything, I will never be happy in this country, so here are a few tips how to adapt to a new country.

The first step inpreparing for life in a new culture is become familiar with the language spoken, there even a few basic phrases will be helpful. The language is very important to communicate, make friends and preparedfor your life. When I came here the first time that I heard someone speaking I felt like I was deaf, I couldn’t understate a word. So, go to school to learn English. Then practice English in home too,watch TV in English and read books to help you.

Second, get new friends, open your mind to new activities, always there are going to benew events and activities that you have de opportunity to take part in. may you will feel like don belong there but it is no truth , you are now part of the community, and doing this you will get a lotof friend.
