A - CAREER IN PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION

1. Discuss the following questions:

1 What kind of work would you like to be doing in (public) administration in the future? In which part of administration would you most likely be seeking employment? Why?

2 Look at the list of factors you might consider when choosing a job in (public) administration. Rank them in order of importance andgive reasons for your choice: job security, independence, income/salary, status, job satisfaction/self-fulfilment and future prospects. Are there any factors not listed, which you consider particularly important? If so, which and why?

3 The majority of job opportunities in EU institutions are in administration and management. Have you ever thought of taking up a job in a multinationalenvironment? What factors do you consider important when deciding to work abroad? What are the (dis)advantages of working internationally?

Have you ever attended a conference, workshop or a seminar related to your field of studies? What was it like? Briefly describe its content.
