SANTANDER
The topic I will talk about is Santander, because it’s the city I was born in.
Now I’mliving in Gijón (since September) and I miss my city. I visit Santander twice a month because its where my family and friends are living.
➢ Location
Santander is the capital of Cantabria, itis located in the north of Spain, the population is around 200.000 people. It´s not a big city, it´s smaller than Gijón for example.
Its limits are defined by: the Cantabrian Sea in the north,Asturias in the west, Palencia and Burgos in the south and Bilbao in the east.
➢ Transport network
In Santander we have a good transport network, by land, air and sea.
There are two importanthighways from Santander, one to the east that gets you in Bilbao in less than an hour and the other one to the West (Asturias) that gets you to the capital in less than two hours.
We also have the portof Santander with two weekly Ferries to Plymouth and Portsmouth. The trip is around 24 hours. They arrive at Santander on Tuesday and Thursday.
In Santander we have a small airport called Parayas.Parayas airport is well communicated. Recently, low cost airlines are connecting Santander to lots of important cities all over Europe, such as London, Rome, Dublin, Madrid or Barcelona.
