Geography
Jamaica is the third largest island in the Caribbean. It lies betweenlatitudes 17° and 19°N, and longitudes 76° and 79°W. Mountains, including the Blue Mountains, dominate the inland. They are surrounded by a narrow coastal plain. Chief towns and cities include the capital Kingston,Portmore, Spanish Town, Mandeville, Ocho Ríos, Port Antonio, Negril, and Montego Bay. Jamaica has the seventh largest natural harbour in the world, Kingston Harbour.

The averagetemperature in Jamaica is 82 ° F and remains consistent throughout the year. Daytime highs are a bit hotter. The northeast trade winds keep you from feeling overwhelmed despite the high humidlylevels.

| Packing checklist. Shorts and swimwear are acceptable onbeaches. A light sweater is suggested for evenings, especially in the winter months. Semi-casual wear for women and sports jacket for men are recommended. For adventures on land, don't forget topack Insect Repellent ,sunscreen, shades with UVA/UVB protection and closed-toed hiking or walking shoes. For adventures in water, bring waterproof sunscreen, shades with UVA/UVB protection and sandals orwater shoes with Velcro or lacing( flip-flops are a no-no)! And whatever you do, bring a camera. |
