Ras Al-Khaimah stayed out until 11 February 1972 when he decided to join the 6 original emirates. Ras Al-Khaimah stayed out until 11 February 1972 when he decided to join the 6original emirates.In 1820 the UK signed the first peace treaty with the sheikhs of the tribes of the country to stop these acts of piracy. But the treaty would mean the beginning of the British protectoratewould be the perpetual maritime truce in May 1853 by which the United Kingdom took over the military protection of the territory and in March 1892 agreement which granted exclusive monopoly trade andexploitation of resources for the British. The name of the Emirates who received during this period was that of the Trucial States.
