Topic: Irish declaration of Independence.
This is a political document adopted by Dáil Éireann, whichproclaims the declaration of independence of Ireland and its subsequent determination to maintain complete independence from English rule. The declaration exposed the aspirations and goals of therebels. It also declared that there was a new form of government.
The topic of the text is Irelands resoluteness to gain freedom from England. At first, it encompassed the whole island and itswillingness to gain legitimacy under international law around the world, but in order to achieve that goal, the people of Ireland had to go through abundant turmoil to the point of engaging in a militaryconflict with the English Government.
The proclamation of the Irish Republic was based on liberty and equality principles for all Irish people as well as the other proclamation document of the time.This document was radical and controversial at the time, pointing out the time Ireland had been demanding freedom from foreign occupation against its will, and the firmness of the Irish people to achievetheir goal even by means of protesting in arms. It is mentioned that for seven hundred years they were attempting to obtain self-government, without links to the English crown and without success.International recognition is requested from this text, although it was not possible to accept internationally at that particular time. Irish policy was presented at the peace conference that would endWorld War I, but it did not secure international consensus about Ireland´s independence yet. The Irish people had to wait until it reached a full agreement with the English crown. Although theypresented this document at the conference willing to be recognized as an independent country, Sinn Feinn, the party that represented Ireland at the moment returned home empty-handed.
