According toThe National Eating Disorder Association: In the United States, 20 million women and 10 million men suffer from a clinically significant eating disorder at some timein their life, including anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge eating disorder, or an eating disorder not otherwise specified. The importance of this paper is to show people that eating disorders isa serious problem affecting teenagers, people might misunderstood believin it is lifestyle choices and teenagers just want to do that to have the perfect body. In fact, anorexia has the highestmortality rate of any mental illness. So it is importatnt tha people know how to prevent it, people must know the symptoms, and what to do to control that problem because it might not be happening to youbut it might be happening to someone close to you.
On this paper I am going to discuss the different types of eating disorders, factors, symptoms, ways to prevent it, and how to treat it.
Thereexist diferent types of esting disorders, but the most common are anorexia and bulimia nervosa. The principal factor is media influence, how girls develop an image of how the perfect body should be forwhat they see on tv and magazines.Girls can get so obscece to get the desired body, and it might leads them to get an eating dissorder.
why is it so important to prevent those eating dissorders?People might believe that if a girl is obsece with being so skinny and starves themselves or do someting extreme, is normal and it is just a life style. But the truth is that trying to get the "perfectbody" which actually does not exist, can be dangerous for their health. Starving can damage vital organs and heart, blood and pulse rates mat drop and thyroid starts workning slower.If the disorderbecomes severe, patients may lose calcium from their bones, making them brittle and prone to breakage.
